A little while ago, in the beautiful town after which our company came to be named, three friends decided that Padstow deserved a gin it could call its own.
David, the son of a die-hard Gordon’s drinker, had been embedded in the area since the early 90s, having brought down decades of experience as a sommelier and establishing two famous local hubs for discerning residents and visitors alike: BinTwo in Padstow; and Wadebridge Wines, just up the river.
It was at the former that David first met and befriended co-founder Rob Waters, and his wife Paula, who both shared a love of this special enclave of North Cornwall, having both enjoyed a long history of spending time here throughout childhood.
Over a G&T (naturally) David and Paula, who runs the very successful Padstow Breaks, would often drift off into imagining what a Padstow gin might be like, inspired by the heritage, the ever-changing landscape, and everything that comes with it – that intangible magic that makes Padstow, Padstow.
Many discussions, foraging expeditions, design meetings, and tastings later, we’re in a place where we always, and never, dreamed we’d be: ready to deliver on a promise to create something remarkable, that belongs to this place that keeps calling people back, again and again.
The opening of our store No.17 Duke Street, is a huge, exciting step for The Padstow Distilling Company, being the realisation of a dream, and a home for Padstow Gin, where people can experience our spirit, and take away their own little piece of Padstow.
